Update 7:58am: TMZ are now reporting XXXTentacion has been pronounced dead by the Broward County Sheriff's department.

Rapper XXXTentacion has reportedly been shot and has been wounded according to TMZ.

The 20-year-old was apparently at a motorcycle dealership when a gunman approached him critically wounding him. Variety confirmed with a county official that "a developing incident regarding a shooting" had occurred.

Eyewitnesses say the man appeared "lifeless and with no pulse".

XXXTentacion has had a controversial career, and was currently awaiting trial for domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend.

Despite debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in March the rapper's history of alleged violence against his girlfriend, who he reportedly abused while she was pregnant, forced Spotify to remove his music from their curated playlists. The move came as part of Spotify's attempt to condemn artists who break a "hate content and hateful conduct" policy.

Less than a month after introducing it, Spotify announced the end to the policy.

In March, as his second studio album debuted at No. 1, XXXTentacion was released from house arrest so he could tour.
