Celebrities And Fans React To Kate Spade's Death

"Her products were so filled with joy, colour and excitement – I really hope she knew how much love she brought to her customers."

Fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead in her New York apartment overnight, reportedly dying by suicide.

After the news broke of the 55-year-old's death, many fans of her life's work began to share their memories of her designs, and the impact she had on their lives.

Celebrities who had worn Spade's designs or owned one of her many iconic handbags also shared their heartbreak and condolences. Chelsea Clinton wrote: "My grandmother gave me my first Kate Spade bag when I was in college. I still have it".

Fellow designer Diane von Furstenberg issued a statement with Steven Kolb on behalf of the Council of Fashion Designers of America saying they were devastated at the news.

"She was a great talent who had an immeasurable impact on American fashion and the way the world viewed American accessories," the statement read.

"We want to honour her life and her major contribution to the fashion business and express our most sincere condolences to the family."

Spade is survived by her husband Andy, who she co-founded Kate Spade New York, and their 13-year-old daughter Frances Beatrix.
