Alibrandi Star Joins 'Australian Survivor: Champions Vs Contenders'

Australian actress Pia Miranda has been announced as the latest addition to 'Australian Survivor: Champions Vs Contenders'.

The starlet became a household name when she starred in the 2000 film 'Looking For Alibrandi', an adaption of the hugely popular book released in 1992.

The film received critical acclaim and Miranda received an Australian Film Award for best actress for her role as the title character Josephine Alibrandi.

Since her breakout role, she has starred in several movies and had a stint on popular Australian hospital drama 'All Saints' and 'The Secret Life Of Us'.

Miranda will join other Champions including  NRL legend Andrew Ettingshausen, AFL legend Simon Black, Olympic gold medalists Steven Bradbury and Nova Peris, and marathon swimmer Susie Maroney, as well as returning player Luke Toki.

On becoming a survivor, Pia said: “I have been watching 'Survivor' since the first season in 2000 and I’ve been sitting on the couch for almost 20 years saying I could win, so I guess now is my chance! I really want to play as a fan and be someone that a fan would enjoy watching.”

If her preparation for the hardest game on earth is anything to go by, Pia will certainly be stiff competition, for the Contenders and Champions alike. She's been swimming and doing yoga to keep fit, as well as practicing her puzzles and learning how to make fire -- a very handy skill to have!
