All The Best Memes About J.K. Rowling's Retroactive Sex Revelations
Earlier this week, J.K. Rowling revealed that Dumbledore and Grindelwald had an "incredibly intense" sexual relationship.
Despite the fact that there are no scenes featuring the characters' relationship, sexual or romantic, in any of the Fantastic Beasts films to date, or the wider Harry Potter universe, J.K. relayed this information via a DVD bonus feature titled 'Distinctly Dumbledore'.
“Their relationship was incredibly intense. It was passionate, and it was a love relationship,” she said. “But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows really what the other person is feeling. You can’t know, you can believe you know.”
“So I’m less interested in the sexual side -- though I believe there is a sexual dimension to this relationship -- than I am in the sense of the emotions they felt for each other, which ultimately is the most fascinating thing about all human relationship.”
Fans have been unimpressed by the lack of canon representation in the series over the years. After retroactively announcing that Dumbledore was gay back in 2007 -- having not mentioned it in the novels at all -- fans were ecstatic, only to be disappointed to learn that the character was not going to be "explicitly gay" in the Fantastic Beasts film series.
With this new revelation, Twitter has officially Had It, and turned that irritation into content, and created a new meme out of her retroactive sex revelations. Here are some of the wildest ones:
