Amanda Knox Has A True Crime Podcast Now

She was at the centre of one of the most publicised murder trials of the last decade -- now Amanda Knox is exploring the subject of true crime on her very own podcast.

The Truth About True Crime With Amanda Knox launched this week and will focus on “some of the most shocking crimes of our lifetimes but through a whole new lens”, according to the show's trailer.

The first season explores the infamous Jonestown massacre of 1978 -- when 900 members of the People's Temple cult died after drinking Kool-Aid laced with cyanide.

"Season one goes beyond the sensational headlines and snap judgments of  bystanders and tabloids," Knox notes, seemingly alluding to her own experience under the media spotlight.

Knox spent four years in an Italian prison after being charged for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher in 2007. Knox was eventually acquitted by the Italian Supreme Court in 2015.

“After surviving my own true crime saga, I tend not to be a fan of the genre, because it so often veers into sensationalism at the expense of the human beings involved and the truth,” said Knox of her new podcast in a statement.

"But these stories are very important when told with compassion and context," she added.
