5 Seconds Of Summer Hit Up The Project Before Melbourne Show
The boys are back in town!
Ahead of their Melbourne show Ashton, Calum, Luke and Michael of 5 Seconds of Summer had a chat with the hosts of The Project.
Since appearing on the show back in May, the boys have dropped their third wildly successful album, Youngblood, and on Thursday they kicked off their Aussie tour at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion.
As the quartet appeared live from backstage at Festival Hall in preparation for tonight’s Melbourne gig, the panel wanted to know what wild antics go on behind the scenes on tour.
“I've got grandma and grandpa backstage,” Luke said, with Calum adding, “We are 22-year-old guys, so usually we are in bed by 9 reading a good book.”
“I think these days, we kind of are concentrating giving the best live show, even more so than ever, we have a day off, we will have a few beers the night before, if we have a show day, we are ready to go,” they added.
Chatting about the recent trend of celebs turning up at fellow stars' shows -- like John Farnham making a surprise cameo at Celine Dion’s Melbourne performance -- the hosts asked the boys who their dream A-list attendee would be.
“They mustn't have got our emails because they were all invited but none of them chose to come,” Ashton quipped, adding, “When we are in Australia, we see more family than anything else. Maybe a cheeky Pete Murray may be out in the ground. Or Bernard Fanning, if you are out there, please come!”
5 Seconds of Summer will be performing in Melbourne tonight, before heading to Adelaide and wrapping up their tour in Perth.
