Grant Denyer: "I’ve Probably Got The Longest Losing Streak In Logies History"
"I’m going to leave on a moped at the end of the night in my thongs and boardies and Tracy Grimshaw on the back and we’re going to hit it hard.”
The 60th TV Week Logie Awards are less than one week away, and for Family Feud’s Grant Denyer, it could very well mean third time lucky as he takes on Australia’s top TV talent for the coveted Gold Logie.
“It’s an incredible feeling to be nominated for a Gold Logie. It’s quite a touching honour, you get a little bit sentimental,” he told ten daily.
"You don’t get caught up whether you’re going to win or lose, because I’ve lost a lot over the last ten years. In fact, I did a tally the other day -- 22 times I’ve been nominated! I’ve probably got the longest losing streak in Logies history.”
And while a win for his role as host on Family Feud will be bittersweet as the show has since wrapped up, the 40-year-old says he hopes he can take out the award to honour all the hard-working crew behind-the-scenes.
“The Family Feud crew put in so much effort and go without seeing loved ones to ensure it all came together,” he said, adding, “It would really be for them -- you can't repay that sort of dedication."
While the long-running awards show has traditionally been held in Melbourne, this year the Logie Awards will make a move to the Gold Coast -- one which Denyer welcomes with open arms.
"I’m going to forget about limousines for the red carpet, I’m going to arrive on a dolphin, do it local style. I’m going to leave on a moped at the end of the night in my thongs and boardies and Tracy Grimshaw on the back and we’re going to hit it hard,” he said.
As for how hard he plans to celebrate if he finally wins the Gold Logie after being nominated three times?
“I’m on radio in Sydney now, so I can potentially out-Stefanovic the Stefanovics and get drunk on two mediums. So I’ll be on breakfast television and on radio... Completely munted.”
And if you're sad to see the end of Grant playing host on Family Feud, there's no need to worry 'cos he'll soon be back on our as the host of Game Of Games -- the game show made famous by Ellen Degeneres.
Game Of Games will premiere on TEN and WIN Network later this year. Don't forget to place your vote for Grant at TVWeekLogieAwards.com.au!
