London police have a new tactic to fight crime and it involves knocking suspected thieves off vehicles, even during high-speed chases.

Dashcam footage released by the Metropolitan Police shows officers ramming into fleeing moped drivers to prevent getaways.

Police said London has been ravaged by incidents of scooter thieves stealing phones, watches and bags from people as they drive past them, and then speeding off so the victims can't see or catch them.

It's estimated the perpetrators target around 30 people a hour.
