Huge Protests As Donald Trump Lands In The UK

"Special relationship? Just say no."

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in London to mark US President Donald Trump's first visit, taking a "historic" stand against the sitting president.

Signs reading "Dump Trump", "Special Relationship? Just Say No" and "Orange Is The New Nazi" were held outside the US ambassador's resident in Regents Park.

More than 60,000 people have indicated that they will be attending a protest in Trafalgar Square, and a sign reading "Human Rights Nightmare" was unfurled by activists along Vauxhall Bridge in central London.

More protesters gathered outside Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, an 18th-century stately home where Trump attended a black tie dinner with UK Prime Minister Theresa May.

May and Trump have a somewhat fraught relationship, undermined further by two of May's top cabinet members quitting earlier this week over Brexit.

It also comes after an extraordinary interview Trump gave to The Sun, in which he warned that May's new Brexit plan would "kill" any future trade deal with the US.

He also insisted that former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson would make "a great Prime Minister".

Photos of Trump and May holding hands when she visited him in Washington D.C. in January this year also did nothing to stop it happening again and those watching did not miss the chance to comment on it.

Protesters are also planning to to fly a giant Trump baby balloon over the Turnberry golf course in central London, after finally getting the all clear from the police following a petition signed by 8,000 people.
