Elon Musk's Tesla 'Bulletproof' Cybertruck Launch Goes Horribly Wrong
Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the company’s all-electric pickup, the Cybertruck, boasting it was bulletproof, and then things went embarrassingly wrong.
The truck is Tesla’s sixth vehicle since the company was founded in 2003, and it's the company's most ambitious and experimental.
Standing with Tesla Chief Designer Franz Von Holzhausen, Musk was keen to show off his team's latest creation.
Musk claimed the $AU59,000 truck was bulletproof.
"It is literally bulletproof to a 9mm handgun," he said.
You want a truck that's really tough. Not fake tough.
But the demo quickly descended into farce as a metal ball thrown by Von Holzhausen smashed two of its windows. (As shown in video above).
The glass shattered to which Musk said "Oh my f*cking god."
The Cybertruck can do zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, has a stainless steel body, and a base price of $59,000.
In a press release after the bungled demo, Tesla said: "The Cybertruck is designed to have the utility of a truck and the performance of a sports car."
It made no mention of the failure of the vehicle to live up to the bulletproof claims.
