Man Charged After Partner's Toddler Found With Second-Degree Burns
A man has been charged after a toddler allegedly in his care was found with severe burns to his face and back in the NSW Central West.
The two-year-old boy was allegedly left in the care of his mother's partner while she was at work on Saturday evening, police said.
When she arrived home, she found her son unsettled, later discovering his injuries.
Detectives were called to Condoblin Hospital about 3:30am on Sunday where the toddler presented with second-degree burns to his face and back.
He was later airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead in Sydney where he underwent surgery.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad launched an investigation, arresting the 30-year-old man about 5pm on Sunday.
He was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm (DV) and neglecting a child or young person in his care.
The man was refused bail to appear in court on Monday, as investigations continue.
