Elderly Couple Accidentally Sent 20 Kilograms Of Meth
A man has been charged after an elderly couple was accidentally delivered nearly 20 kilograms of methylamphetamine to their door.
The elderly pair from Hoppers Crossing, south-west of Melbourne, signed for a package delivered to their home at about 1pm on Wednesday. When they opened the package they discovered bags containing a white powder.
They called police immediately.
When police arrived they found the package contained 20 kilos of the drug with an estimated street value of $10 million.
Police then searched a property at Bundoora, north of Melbourne, where they discovered another 20 kilograms of methylamphetamine.
A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene and later charged by police with importing a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug.
The man was remanded in police custody and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
