An emergency situation has ended in Brisbane, with two men in custody after a shot was fired at police.

The single shot was fired from within an apartment on Chasely Street in the suburb of Auchenflower at about 11am on Monday, authorities said.

"Detectives accompanied by a Special Emergency Response Team came to a unit... investigating a number of property offences, when our SERT (Special Emergency Response Team) officers gained entry a shot was fired," said Inspector Tony Ridge from Queensland Police.

Ridge also confirmed that no one has been injured and surrounding residents are safe.

"Nearby residents are quite safe, the two armed offenders are contained well within the unit that they're in."

He also said they've moved a number of people away from the area.

Police engaged in a stand-off with the pair as negotiators moved in.

A number of streets including Coronation drive are still closed off and Ridge asked for residents caught in traffic around the area to stay patient while police resolve the situation.

Just before 6pm, police advised two men had been taken into custody. Roads were reopened.
