A sneaky attempt to eat brekky on-the-go has racked up a hefty bill for one woman who was caught in the act while driving along a highway in Victoria.

Police say they spotted a woman steering with her knees as she attempted to eat her breakfast while driving through a busy highway.

The 46-year-old woman was allegedly seen with a fork in one hand and a plate in another as she was driving along the Hume Freeway in Benalla at 8.40am.

Police say they pulled the black Holden station wagon over and slapped the Benalla woman with a $248 fine and an infringement notice for failing to have full control over the vehicle.
