Police have located the body of a man following the search for missing tourist Aslan King.

The body was located in a creek just over a kilometre from the camping ground where King was last seen in Victoria's Princetown area, near the Twelve Apostles.

Officers are yet to formally identify the body, but police believe it is the missing man.

King was last seen about 2am on Saturday at a campground on Old Coach Road, when his friends said he hit his head, stood up suddenly and ran off into the bushland.

"The body was located about 10.15am this morning in a creek just over a kilometre from the camping ground where Aslan was last seen," police said in a statement.

"Investigators will prepare a report for the coroner."

"Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance during the search."

A large-scale land and air search, including officers, volunteers, boats and helicopters had attempted to locate the man for several days.
