Victoria Police have confirmed they have arrested fugitive Jonathan Dick after more than two years on the run.

The 41-year-old was nabbed following an alleged assault in Hosier Lane in Melbourne's CBD just before 8.00 am.

Police arrived to find two men had restrained a third, all three suffered injuries.

Footage shows Dick sitting against a wall with his hands cuffed behind his back with blood dripping from his face.

"The exact circumstances leading up to the incident are yet to be determined, however police believe at least one of the men is known to Jonathan Dick," Victoria Police said in a statement.

Dick has been on the run since his brother David was stabbed to death as he stepped out of a lift at Westfield Doncaster in February 2017.

CCTV footage shows him leaving the scene with the weapon in hand.

A year later, he allegedly attacked a former friend with a hammer in Keilor leaving him with a cut to the back of his head.

That was and has been the only confirmed sighting of the fugitive until now, with officers confident he has been hiding in plain sight, using parks and reserves to avoid detection.

Late last year, Victoria Police announced a $100,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest.

Dick remains under police guard in St Vincent's Hospital while the other two men are assisting police with enquiries.
