German Backpacker Missing In Byron Bay Located

Police had asked the public for help to locate a missing German backpacker missing in Byron Bay.

  • German backpacker Jacqueline Kupke, 20, had last been seen in Byron Bay on June 1
  • She vanished after failing to show up to work at a school in the coastal NSW town
  • Police said on Saturday afternoon she had been found safe and well

Police have located a German backpacker last seen on the NSW north coast more than a week ago.

Jacqueline Kupke, 20, was last seen on Friday June 1 at an English language school on Carlyle Street in the popular tourist town of Byron Bay.

She was reported missing to local police on Thursday after failing to show up to work since the start of the week.

On Saturday afternoon, police said the 20-year-old was found "safe and well".

"The 20-year-old woman was located a short time ago," police said in a statement. "Police thank the community and the media for their assistance."

Police earlier issued an alert about Kupke's disappearance, saying there were grave concerns for her wellbeing.
