Two permanent employees of Frogmore Cottage are believed to have been moved along in the wake of Harry and Meghan's plans to move to Canada.

According to Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English, sources say a permanent house manager and cleaner will be given other duties within the royal household, while casual staff such as chefs, footmen, and maids have been told their services are no longer required.

It's believed that no one been made redundant. Instead, the employees have been given work elsewhere in the Queen's other residences.

The move towards keeping only skeleton staff at the couple's five-bedroom Windsor estate is thought to support the suspicion that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to spend minimal time in the UK.

Just one week ago the couple made the shock announcement that they will be stepping down as senior royals in pursuit of financial independence.

They explained their plan to "balance" their time between the United Kingdom and North America.

The news was confirmed by the palace on Tuesday, when Her Majesty issued a rare statement that explained "there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK."

According to the Evening Standard, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau privately assured the Queen that during this "transition," the couple's safety will be looked after by his country, which is a part of the British Commonwealth.

This means covering the cost of their security Canadian taxpayer dollars.

Meghan Markle and her relationship with staff has made countless headlines since she wed Prince Harry in May 2018.

Eyebrows were raised in early 2019 when a string of long term employees of the royal family resigned, including the duchess' female bodyguard and the Sussex's private secretary, Samantha Cohen.

The newlyweds moved into Frogmore Cottage on Windsor Estate in November 2018.

The AUD $4.5 million renovations were paid for by British taxpayers, with the funds coming out of the Queen's Sovereign Grant.
