'So Disappointed': Miley Cyrus Cancels Australian Bushfire Relief Concert Amid Coronavirus Fears

Miley Cyrus has announced that she'll no longer be travelling to Australia for her planned bushfire relief concert.

The singer was scheduled to perform along with Lil Nas X, Seb Fontaine and the Veronicas in Melbourne on March 13 but revealed she's been advised to stay put in the United States due to the spread of COVID-19.

"Due to the recommendations of local, state, federal and international government authorities, including the Centre for Disease Control, to reduce potential health risks in response to the current global health crisis, we are no longer travelling to Australia for the show," Miley wrote on Instagram stories.

"I am so disappointed not to be there, but I have to do what is right to protect the safety of my band and crew," she added.

Miley wrote that she will "still be making a donation to help the victims of the Australian bush fire".

"I'm sorry to miss everyone in Australia but I will be back soon," she concluded.

Fans have expressed their disappointment about the cancellation on Twitter, but noted that they understand her decision to put her crew's health first.

The news comes just days after it was announced that the annual South By Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas would not be going ahead after the city's mayor declared a state of emergency.

The organisers of the largest music festivals in the world -- Coachella -- are also reportedly in talks to postpone the multi-weekend event from April until October with fans hoping to see headliners Rage Against The Machine, Frank Ocean and Travis Scott forced to cancel their plans.
